Flower Drum

Restaurant: Flower Drum
Comments: I was excited to try Australia's best Chinese restaurant but was a little sceptical on how good Chinese food could actually be. Our waiter was very nice and he chat to us a lot. The food was quite nice but I wouldn't call it the best Chinese in the country. Some of my meals at silks at Crown Perth have been more impressive. I didn't really have a favourite dish, they were all just good but nothing special. But if I had to choose, it would be the boneless garfish or the fried ice cream only because I love fried ice cream. I got the 5 course banquet for $140.
Rating: 70% - would still recommend as my expectations were probably too high

Baked crab shell - fresh mud crab meat cooked in turmeric sauce together with a hint of onion and garlic

Boneless garfish stuffed with vegetable filling and a shiitake mushroom sauce

Live Tasmanian crayfish, king prawns, scallop, pearl meat stir fried with ginger and spring onion

Peking duck

Grain fed eye fillet with Szechuan sauce served with seasonal vegetables

Special fried rice

Deep fried ice cream with mixed berry sauce (cut in half because I gave my mum half)
